We meet three days each week to train, create, and share life together in an intimate, formative community shaped by prayer, worship, truth, and service. Our core is made up of high-level, advanced concert dance artists committed to excellence, depth, and embodied storytelling, while also serving as an internship and training environment for preprofessional dancers seeking growth in both artistry and faith.
Through disciplined training, creative process, and shared rhythms of life, we pursue holistic formation—cultivating skill, character, and spiritual attentiveness as we learn to follow Jesus together. We believe discipleship happens not only through teaching, but through practice, presence, and mission.
As a community, we are continually listening for where God is at work on the margins and seeking meaningful ways to connect with those on the fringes of society. Through the art of dance, we share the love of Jesus, creating spaces where dignity is restored and stories can be expressed through movement.
Our outreach rhythms include regular community engagements throughout the city, a yearly spring workshop, and our annual Backyard Series—an outdoor community dance event designed to share beauty and truth through embodied art in a welcoming, natural setting.
The Open Sky Internship Program is designed for pre-professional dancers seeking rigorous, high-level training within the context of our mission-driven community. Interns train three days per week alongside the Open Sky company, participating fully in rehearsals, creative process, and company life. The program emphasizes both technical growth and personal formation, offering one-on-one mentorship and hands-on experience in performance, outreach, and service.
Interns also take part in Open Sky’s regular local outreaches, using dance as a means to share the love of Jesus with communities across the city. Ideal candidates are dancers ages 18+ with a strong foundation in ballet and modern technique, a hunger to grow in relationship with Jesus, and a sincere passion for serving others. This internship is best suited for artists who desire excellence, depth, and purpose—those who are ready to be formed as both skilled dancers and faithful ambassadors of hope.
